Porsche Taycan named ‘Game Changer’ at Autocar Awards
Great Britain. The Porsche Taycan has been named a ‘Game Changer’ at Autocar magazine’s awards (this year held digitally). Autocar, the world’s oldest motoring magazine, annually celebrates great automotive achievements, and the Game Changer award recognises vehicles that bring new standards to a hard-fought class, or defy conventions to bring unexpected benefits for buyers. The Taycan is the first all-electric sports saloon from Porsche, and was launched globally in September 2019. The development goal was for the Taycan to be a true Porsche for the age of electromobility – a sports car that not only excites in terms of its technology and driving dynamics, but also sparks a passion in people, just like its legendary predecessors. The flagship Turbo S version of the Taycan can generate up to 560 kW (761 PS) overboost power and accelerates from zero to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds.
Mark Tisshaw, Editor of Autocar, said: “The thing that’s most radical about our third game changer award winner, the Porsche Taycan, is what it doesn’t change. The Taycan is a high-performance battery electric vehicle, from a company partly famous for its charismatic six-cylinder engines. But you only have to spend a few minutes in the Porsche Taycan’s company to know that it behaves exactly like a Porsche should, in that it has exceptional performance, and brilliantly engaging handling, to back up its smooth, zero-tailpipe emission drivetrain - and the kind of high quality we’ve come to expect from a Porsche.”
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is priced from £138,826.00 RRP and the Porsche Taycan Turbo from £115,858.00 RRP. The third member of the Taycan family, the 4S, is priced from £83,367.00 RRP.
