24 x 4: 2015 Le Mans winner steps up into a Porsche Cayenne at the opening weekend of 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup GB

Great Britain. Nick Tandy, the British factory Porsche race driver who helped the Stuttgart marque to a record seventeenth outright victory at Le Mans last year, collected his new Porsche Cayenne at Brands Hatch during last weekend’s opening Porsche Carrera Cup GB rounds.

The Bedfordshire driver was handed the keys to his new Cayenne by Ragnar Schulte, General Manager, Marketing and Motorsport, Porsche Cars Great Britain, in front of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB race centre.

On seeing his car in the metal for the first time, the former Carrera Cup Champion was clearly delighted: “I am really looking forward to living with the Cayenne. I chose it to replace my Panamera as with a growing family the Cayenne is the most family-friendly car in the Porsche model range. It’s the perfect fit for my life at the moment, which involves a lot of long journeys interspersed with family trips.

“Of course, when it came to choosing the specification I wanted to make sure the car had a suitably sporty look. I chose GT Silver with contrasting black details such as black 21” wheels, the black monochrome package and black sports exhaust tailpipes.”

Tandy was attending the first race weekend of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB to welcome 2016’s aspiring drivers to the grid: "The Porsche Carrera Cup GB is as strong as ever this year, with around 25 cars on the grid and a massive amount of new talent. I know how important success in the Carrera Cup was to my career, so I’m looking forward to seeing who’s going to come out on top this year.

“The races in two weeks alongside the World Endurance Championship at Silverstone will be a highlight of the season and all of the drivers will want to win. I’m hoping to get along to a few more rounds of the Carrera Cup GB this year, too.”

Rounds three and four of the Championship at Silverstone’s Grand Prix circuit on 16 and 17 April look set to be hard-fought. Both defending champion Dan Cammish (Redline Racing) and Dino Zamparelli (GT Marques) go into the weekend tied on championship points after taking a win apiece at the opening encounter.
